Neck Pain Treatment for “Tech Necks”

Written By Atlanta Spine and Wellness on September 23, 2019

Man with tech neckIf you work at a computer all day, you are probably all too familiar with the term “tech neck.” Hours spent at a desk staring at a computer screen can take their toll – from stiff shoulders to neck pain and headaches. To alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms, it is helpful to understand what causes the pain. Once soreness strikes, it is helpful to know which neck pain treatment is most effective.

Causes of Neck Pain

Neck pain at work is usually the result of a workstation that is not accommodating. Some of the issues that might arise include:

  • Monitor is too low: If you find yourself hunching your shoulders and leaning forward to see your monitor, it is not at the right height for you.
  • Chair is not comfortable: The arms on your desk chair should allow you to rest your arms comfortably on top without hunching your shoulders.
  • Monitor is hard to read: If you can’t read your screen comfortably from an upright sitting position, you may need to adjust your font or get computer glasses to make it easier to see.
  • Desk is too high or low: You should be able to access your keyboard comfortably without raising your arms and hunching your shoulders. If you can’t, you need to fix the height of your desk or your chair to correct your posture.

Neck Pain Treatment that Works
